With HT-Wandelreizen, a Dutch Travel organisation, to Mongolia. A country that most people do not bubble up as a holiday destination (but Vodka enough). The country is under the yoke of the Soviet Republic and is said to be a democracy. However, this happens with trial and error. The population often goes back to traditional living. Pensioners in particular are better able to make ends meet from life as a nomad than from their pension. The youth also do this because there is not yet enough work. But due to the unfamiliarity with nomadic life, they often lose a lot of cattle in the winter. The reports in the last few years that a lot of cattle die due to the harsh winter often have a different cause. The new nomad often stay in the descend because of the cold, but there the snow is thicker than in the higher parts, making it less easy for the animals to get to their food. In the higher parts this is easier.
